Furniture and bedding exports in Egypt maintained a steady average growth rate of 6% from 2007-2010, while imports sustained 36% average growth. At the same time, total textile exports and imports quadrupled, with home textiles representing approximately 14% of all textile exports.

Furniture production doubled between 2004 and 2009, reaching U.S. $86 million, and the export / production ratio raised from 3% to 26% between 2000 and 2009. Meanwhile, in post-revolutionary Egypt, creative initiatives are flourishing, such as the Design for Egypt project that draws from Egyptian artists to produce a collection of Made-in-Egypt tables, lighting and textiles. Finally, in July 2011, the Egyptian Home Textile Council featured 11 Egyptian companies at the Home Textiles Sourcing Expo in New York, in the industry’s first NY showcase since the revolution.
